Planner's Comments
This event wasn‘t even going to run, but I volunteered to put on a night event in the North East as there haven‘t been many lately, and it was decided that the event could be classified as the NE Night Championships. The area of Morpeth (West) was decided upon, and also the requirement for three courses. The courses were planned to use most areas of the map, including the housing estates of Lancaster Park and Kirkhill, open areas of farmland playing fields and the extremely muddy adjacent wooded areas, which provided interesting and varied terrain. Record numbers turned up to surprise the organising team, and it was a great relief when all runners returned without any major incidents involving the muddy slopes of Morpeth. Thanks to all those who competed, and big thanks to Rosemary Matheson, Colin Matheson and Adrian Barnes for putting out and collecting in controls, dealing with the administration side and entries, map printing, mopping floors and planning tips.
