Planner's report

The 1200 miners who used to work at Doctor Pit would probably have been surprised to rise to the surface to find 30 hardy souls in running tights navigating around the area. On the face of it a disused pit area covering an area less than a square kilometre, criss-crossed with electricity lines and adorned with a few scrubby plantations isn't every planner's (or competitor's) dream. Hopefully I did manage to make the best of what we had including a 1.6 km Yellow course around the closest bit of wood to a 6.2 km Long that took in two complete tours of the area. The path network caught a few competitors out, including the mapper himself who allowed himself to become too complacent. Thanks to the wonders of GPS Adrian had run up and down every path he could find before transferring the detail into OCAD. Anyone who didn't think the mapping was correct blame the satellites. It's such a pity that what could be a decent area is covered in litter and dog droppings but I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, especially those who stayed out for over 60 minutes to savour the experience more.
