Blagdon is a small but interesting area and thanks go to the estate owners (the Ridley family) for allowing us access once again. I decided to try and get the shorter easier courses into the area near the lakes and river so that meant a short walk to the start and a longer walk back. Thankfully it was a beautiful day (raining now as I write this) and everyone was happy. The addition of a Short Green was popular and all the longer courses went out to the steep terrain adjacent to the A1. I used to drive past that patch of forest everyday wondering what it would be like for orienteering - steep and muddy and a little bit complex is the answer. Blue and Brown both did two circuits of the area, but hopefully by leading competitors into areas of forest by completely different directions it made the forest appear bigger than it actually was. I haven't seen competitors times and results but I think courses distances were just about right and everybody I spoke to was happy.
