Yvette Baker Round One

Sunday 14th April 2013 at Silton organised by CLOK

Comments

The Club juniors were in action at the CLOK event at Silton on Sunday 14th April 2013.

Silton is not the best of areas for juniors and there were a few technical challenges them. They did very well and the club coaches are pleased with the results. Unlike last year CLOK had a full team out and they were also hosts to EBOR. One of the difficulties we have met with the juniors orienteering is the lack of real competition areas. Most of them orienteer on a regular basis, but on small areas or parks. To try and improve their ability, we are going to try and get them to some events further away. We will look to see venues that might be suitable and ask parents to try and go to these events. If parents are not available, the coaches will try and provide transport.

We are also looking at two weekends in the autumn. To try and offset some of the costs we will try and set up some small cake stalls or other fund raisers. Watch this space. The juniors' scores etc. are listed below. Aoife Lakey also ran for the club, but because of a short print run or other reasons beyond a suitable explanation there was no map for her. She ran the short green instead. Even with a 100 points we still would not have won.
